Do protein shakes with hi-carb in them work?

I've been weight lifting for 2 months now, and I decided to use a protein shake to boost up my progress. Now I had very little knowledge of the different shakes in the market, so I just went to the local medical store, and the pharmacist recommended this particular shake. Now I came home, and read the ingredients, and it gives 45 carbs, 11 proteins and 2 fat per serving, a total of 750 calories. Now I dont know much about food stuff, but Im worried that whether a shake containing such huge amounts of carbohydrates would increase my body fat instead of increasing muscle m....please help me out here. I cant return the shake, because it was pretty expensive and I've already opened it, and I dont have have the heart to throw such an expensive thing away. But if it will REALLY deter my progress, then i will have no choice. Please tell me what to do.
