Please tell me if he is leading me on or not?

I told a guy that I really liked him and that either I was just infatuated or that I thought it could lead to something really wonderful. We've been friends for 2 years and just recently have dated/become intimate since January 2nd. Here's what he said in response to me: I really like you and I like your company. I just want to take things slow and see what happens. Do you think he is simply leading me on?? Please help. I would get out now if I need to, to protect myself, but if he thinks we could have a future together, I'd much rather stay!!! Please help, thank you!!!
